Hello, I am Joseph J Bailey, I grew up in Fargo, ND and graduated high school from Fargo South high. I attended the University of North Dakota back in the 90’s and played football for five years and earned my Bachelor of Fine Art degree. Since then, I have had many careers in the printing industry, architectural glass, and construction, as well as exhibiting my own professional Art through commissions and gallery experience. I am married to my wife Julie, who is a 6th grade English teacher in West Fargo and we have two daughters, Ella (13) and Nora (10) that attend Horizon middle school in Moorhead, MN. I enjoy doing Art work, camping, grilling, spending time with my family and working on my house where I reside in Moorhead, MN. I achieved my Master of Art in Teaching in 2020 and I’m currently in my fifth year of teaching in Wheaton, MN and Campbell, MN as the K-12 Art instructor.
As an active artist, I hope to communicate with my future students the attributes and techniques that have helped me grow and change in my craft. Some of these qualities include; problem-solving, collaboration, work ethic, and experimenting with different techniques, mediums, and 21st Century tools. My teaching goals include creating an environment that fosters the overall aptitude of the students in my classroom by providing diversity through hands-on opportunities to learn new processes using a variety of tools.
Art provides those who partake an avenue for creative expression, a healthy emotional outlet, and processes that foster the imagination for students with varying skills sets and abilities. Being able to express yourself through your art with intrigue and intellect is an appropriate opportunity to exercise one’s originality, regardless of ability. I hope to provide my students with the tools and knowledge to charter themselves down a path of success when challenged with adversity. Art is strengthened by adaptation and can be practiced by any student. Art is an equal opportunity.
